To make this one of a kind piece, we started with a piece of reclaimed 20 gauge aluminum. The banana slug design was hand drawn on the sheet aluminum so it could be cut out, hand hammered, and shaped. The curves give the aluminum dimension and rigidity, and are further amplified by the hand painted bright colors and glossy clear coat.

All edges have been manually filed, and the piece is ready to hang from a custom made aluminum clip on the back. If you are wondering about the unusual location of the clip, this is its balance point so the art hangs level on your wall. It can also be leaned on a shelf or mantle for display.

Banana slug is an aluminum art piece that is durable and will not rust-- but to make sure the piece continues to look its best, please keep the art dry, display indoors and out of direct sunlight. And don't be too rough on banana slug or you might dent it.
