My parents were both artists and I was raised with a strong foundation in the fundamentals. My time at art school was brief, and it served to resolve my purpose to make art that is accessible, obtainable, and unconceited. Having felt confined by traditional canvas I moved to hand carving wood and foam, cutting plywood into free form shapes, and constructing dimensional wall art pieces from paper mache. The search for expressive new painting surfaces brings me to my current work, a collaboration with metal artist Gepre. We hand cut and hand hammer sheet metal to form an all original construct that is lightweight, durable, and functions as a surreal extension of the visual imagery.

My undying love for animation, TV, science fiction and fantasy has found an outlet though neo-pop surrealism and lowbrow art styles. Many of my pieces are born out of a strange dream or silly observation, and behind the scenes I enjoy writing brief poems or stories to accompany the visuals. I am taking a more philosophical approach with my Creation Myth series, drawing inspiration from religious iconography and pop culture to imagine what a post-industrial populace may create from the ashes of societal collapse. With no scripture to guide us we are driven to interpret the work as the archeologist who has unearthed these mysterious relics.

Tag along on my rollicking quest to bring gravitas to the mundane, beauty to the ridiculous, and humility to the cat.
